Official Medical Provider
On behalf of Celebration Health, we are pleased to announce that we are the Official Medical Provider of the 3rd Annual Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend the Disneyland® Resort.
Florida Hospital Celebration Health will be providing complete medical coverage for the event. We invite you to be part of the elite medical team that will provide pre- and post-race support for the 18,000+ runners over their journey.
The Disney Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend is one of the largest sports events in Anaheim. A unique opportunity exists here for you to exercise your skills in a field that will feature runners and wheelchair competitors from around the world.
MEDICAL VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Volunteers are needed on behalf of Anaheim Community Foundation for the 2014 Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend events including the Never Land Family Fun Run 5K, the runDisney Kids Races, the Tinker Bell 10K, and the Tinker Bell Half Marathon. Assistance is needed in the following areas: California State Certified/Licensed MDs, DOs, PAs, DPMs, ARNPs, RNs, ATCs, PTs, PMs, EMTs, RRTs and LPNs. Members of the medical team must be willing and able to work as early as 3 am until as late as 11 am. (Not all shifts will be this early or this late.) Volunteers under 18 years are not allowed to volunteer or accompany volunteers, NO EXCEPTIONS.

DISNEY TINKER BELL HALF MARATHON WEEKEND MEDICAL MISSION STATEMENT
It is the mission of the Medical Team to assist the Disney Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend participants with minor injuries to enable them to work towards completing the event. It is also our mission to evaluate participants who require critical attention and to transport those participants in need of definitive care to the appropriate facilities. It is our goal to motivate participants during the half marathon through the enthusiasm and encouragement of our medical volunteers.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES/JOB ASSIGNMENTS:
Responsible for giving medical attention to all marathon participants that are seeking assistance while on the course. Each medical course tent will be staffed with a variety of medical specialties (ie. ATCs, RNs, PTs, PMs, EMS etc.)
FINISH LINE - CRITICAL CARE
Responsible for treating participants after they have crossed the finish line or those that have been transported off the course for more comprehensive care. Medical Team members will monitor vitals and assess/treat the runners with the guidance of the Medical Director.
FINISH LINE - CHUTE ROVER
Responsible for remaining alert and on watch for participants who may appear to be in need of medical care after crossing the Finish Line, as well as, offering assistance to those participants that need help getting to the Critical Care/Orthopaedic Tent. Medical equipment/supplies will be distributed to enable volunteers to deliver a limited level of emergency care if needed. Anaheim EMS will also be at the Finish Line with their unit equipped with ALS equipment, if needed.
SELF TREATMENT AREA
Responsible for taking care runners that cross the finish line that are in need of basic first aid supplies that they can treat themselves. Items such as Tylenol, BioFreeze, ice bags and band-aids will be some of the supplies that will be given to runners in need. If more than basic treatment is needed then it is your responsibility to transport to the medical tent for more medical attention.
BIKE MEDICAL (EMT/PM PREFERRED FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT)
MUST BRING YOUR OWN BIKE AND HELMET! Bike must also be equipped with front and back lights.
Responsible for remaining alert and on the watch for participants who appear to be in need of medical care while on the race course. Volunteers will be given a more detailed assignment that will outline the area of the course he/she is to monitor. Volunteers will have radio communication with HAM radio and Anaheim EMS personnel and Medical Team leaders to aide and assist with best course of action and may be asked to respond to an exact location on the race course. You may also be asked to arrive early and stay after the race has finished to help patrol the Family Reunion Area/Finish Line.
